This article will go through the steps on how to create a 'Short course', which is a course that is normally 2 - 12 weeks long where players will pay for the full course You can also add a waiting list to your short courses.
Set the Status of your Course: This is where you can choose WHO and WHERE your course can be seen:
You can change this
Hidden
The course is not available to anyone. Use this setting while you are making changes to avoid confusion.
Public
The course will be available to all and will appear in search results.
Direct link only
The course will not appear in search results, but will be available via direct links.
Archived
The course is no longer available at your venue and will be moved into your archived courses.
Step 3:
You will need to enter all the course details such as course name, skill level, age level, start date and description which will all be visible on your website.
Note: Your course title is the first thing people will see when searching for courses in your area. It could
be the only information a user sees to decide whether to click on your course or not.
It should be short and to the point. You should use your title to tell a user the key details of your
course in as few words as possible. It should include who the course is for (Adults/Kids/Seniors),
what level the course is (Beginner/Improver/Club) and what location the course is held at e.g.
Wimbledon Park. Where possible, you should include the words “tennis lessons” in your title as we
know most people search for this in Google.
Once someone has clicked onto your course, your description should provide them with all the
information they need to decide whether to book the course or not. Having little to no description
could put someone off from booking. A good description should include
- An overview of what the lessons will cover. If there are multiple sessions, what areas do
each session cover - Who the lessons are suited for e.g. age ranges, abilities
- Where the lessons are and any useful information such as parking, court surface, what they
need to bring - Who is running the session and any relevant experience they have
- Any benefits of attending the course
- Keywords such as “Our adult/youth tennis lessons in [location]”
To enter your Skill Level, you will need to click on the box and select all skill levels that are advised to attend the course.
The Description text will be shown when booking the Course.
The Confirmation text will be seen by the player once they have completed the booking.
You also have the option to Send Reminder Emails to the members that join. If you would like to this option 'ON' simply click on the toggle and Enter your 'Reminder Email Information' Text
Next, you will need to enter the start date of your upcoming course - or if required - enter a past date or same-day date for courses which have already started.
You also have the option to add a 'Booking Window' this will ensure that members only book between your chosen Date and Time.
Choose an interval (weekly or daily), number of sessions and the capacity for your course.
You can also select the days you want the course to take place, simply click on the days as shown below.
Note: When selecting multiple days, this means that the course will be happening on those days at the same time. If you want to offer the course on different days of the week at different times, you will need to create a course for each time you want it to be at.
If you have enabled the waiting list feature on your coaching category, here you will be able to turn it on for your short course.
If you are creating an adult course that is within a Custom Coaching Category, then you will be able to select if you would like for it to appear on the LTA booking platform (known at LTA Play). Please tick this box if you want it to appear here as shown below:
You will need to input your Contact Email Address and Phone Number of the Venue. You can input your Terms and Conditions of the Course, where you can attach documents if you would like your participants to fill before attending.
If you would like the course to be more personal, you can also add a Course Cover image. For best viewing on this image, we recommend that the image has the dimensions of 1800px by 440px.
Now you will need to enter the price of your course. Here you will be able to add member discount as well as the option to allow players to join after the course has started. If you tick the 'Allow joining after the course has started?' box, you can enter a cost per class which players pay depending on how many classes are remaining. If you leave the cost per class box empty, players will be charged the full cost of the course.
You can also also make the course for 'members' only. This can be done by using the option 'who can book' and selecting 'members'.
In section for 'who can book' you will now see 'selected members only'. This should be used if you want the course to be for members of specific memberships only. You can add and remove packages that can book at any stage.
Note: Recurring sessions will mean that members of the packages chosen will be able to book all sessions for that course, it cannot be restricted per individual session.
If you want to offer a member discount you can select between the 'user selection' or 'based on membership status' options. If you select 'user selection' then the member has to select whether they are a member or non-member when booking onto the course.
If you select 'based on membership status' option then the membership will be validated when a member is booking a course. Please Note: This feature is only available on venue accounts who have access to the membership module.
You now have the option to enable the 'Participant Cancellations' tab. You also have the option to enable the 'Auto Refund' toggle if you wish.
You will need to enter your Session Defaults which will be the default for the upcoming classes/sessions.
Sessions/Classes within a course can be edited after the course has been saved.
Coaching Accounts Only: You can enter the venue where your course will take place, just start typing and it will appear in the drop-down menu.
If your venue does not appear, click on the blue link to 'Request a new venue'. Fill in the details of the venue on the following screen and click on submit. This will be sent to the LTA database and take approximately 48 hours to be added.
Venue accounts do not have the option to select alternative locations for coaching courses.
Enter the details of your lead coach and any other coaches who will be helping to run the course in the 'Coaching team' box, you can also add coaches to your team by clicking on the '+ Add' button without navigating away from the page. Please Note: Individual classes can be edited at a later date.
There is a new section for the feature 'Open courts', this allows players/members with disabilities to filter for courses and venues with specific facilities that meet their requirements (i.e. Wheelchair access, accessible toilets etc).
Lastly this section is optional, you can choose to link the course up with the booking sheet. If the court(s) is available on the date and time selected you will be able to select these, the course will then appear on the booking sheet for people to book on. More information on this feature can be found here.
Step 4:
Select the blue 'Save course' button.
Step 5:
Once the course has been saved, you will be taken to your course page where you can view, edit and add new classes. To edit a class, click on the class you wish to edit and you will be able to edit the Session Defaults for that specific class.
Step 6:
The course can now be booked and viewed online. To access the direct link to the courses web page you will need to find the programme in the Coaching Module and select the course. Here you will also view the list of participants.
Your course will appear online as followed:
